“I never thought I will say this about you but I guess career excellence and knowledge in law doesn’t make you exceptional when it comes to issues affecting women. You grew up in a patriarchal society. The system is designed to favour you. You had no education on gender equality when growing up. But you know what? That can be changed.
“You have everything your wife has. I know you are smart enough to see that your wife does not use her vagina to cook or order food. And when it comes to strength, you even have more (likely). So if anyone should [ads1]work and cook, it should be you. And one more thing, the meaning of daddy and mommy has never been static. Those who improve the world understand that change is one of the factors of progress. Think about it.”
The above was one of the responses of Dela Goldheart (a feminist) to Ace Ankomah as regards the prominent legal practitioner’s assertion that the kitchen is part of the responsibilities of wives even if they choose to work.
“Dela Goldheart it is poorly educated clowns with sawdust for brains like you who give feminism a bad name. When you go to school and take classes in the subject, take classes in thinking as well. The essence of education is how it expands, not constricts, your ability to think.
“When they teach you their experience in America, don’t be a clueless sponge of a lapdog to them. Think. Ask how this applies home.
“Your American puppet mistresses only got the right to vote in 1921. Two whole decades before that a woman from Ghana called Yaa Asantewaa (do you know about her?) had led a war against a world power. Think. Think. At least learn how to think. It’s free. Then you will learn which part of your body you use to cook.
“If you ever become half the woman my wife is, your family would be finally proud of you, and then you won’t be using a fake name on social media. Ofui! And I’m not insulting you. I’m just describing you.”
Now, that’s one of the rebuttals from Ace Ankomah. Described as a legendary response by a section of the public, the banter between the two engendered controversies on social media platform, Facebook.
Before this very response, Ace Ankomah had taunted Dela Goldheart’s posture describing it as “jaundiced”.
“The problem with some of you is that you think every male thinks in a certain way and that it is up to you to educate us. Madam, the person who needs education here is staring right at you in your mirror.
“And where did you get the nonsense from about cooking with a vagina? Are you stupid or just deranged? Does the anonymity of social media give you the right to speak tosh to everyone. You would be proud to be associated with my wife for just 5 minutes in your life. Twit!!
“Take your personal frustrations and bitterness with life elsewhere and get the heck off my page with your angry, rabid and misdirected feminism. Learn to show respect to yourself first. You are a young woman with serious psyche issues. You need help,”
But who really is Dela Goldheart?
She is known in real life as Amelia Dela Amemate, a product of the University of Ghana. For students of Ghana’s premier university who know her political life, she was one of the aspirants for the 2012/2013 Student Representative Council (SRC) Presidential elections and she was popularly known as Ame Ame, a nickname coined from her full name.
Ame Ame’s campaigned slogan was “Be wise and stay focused”.
Reports suggest she run on the feminist agenda back then and called on all females to vote in her favour. She was reported to have picked a quarrel with some members of the Voltarian Students Association (VORSA) for supporting Eric Edem Agbana, an aspirant who also hails from the Volta Region.
Per the rules governing the elections, Ame Ame was disqualified because her running mate, Ernest Sampson did not have the required CGPA of 3.0 which made her ineligible to contest for the position.
She challenged her ‘unlawful’ disqualification from contesting for the position of SRC President and was eventually added to the race following the ruling of the SRC Judicial Board.
She polled 40 votes in the election which saw Eric Edem Agbana as the victor. Edem had 2,888 while Michael Adjei had 1,479 votes.
