Tragedy: 40-Year-Old Man Allegedly Drowns in Ayensu River

The community of Gomoa Panfokrom in the Gomoa East District was left in shock on Monday, August 5, 2024 after the lifeless body of a resident was discovered in the Ayensu River.

The victim, identified as 40-year-old Daniel Nartey, reportedly went to the river to take a bath. According to eyewitnesses, Nartey, a well-known resident of the town, was known to be suffering from epilepsy.

Narrating the unfortunate incident to the media, Mr. Japheth Appiah, Assemblyman for the Panfokrom Electoral Area, disclosed that a report was made to the Dominase Police Station on Sunday, August 4, 2024, after the victim was reported missing.

Mr. Appiah further informed the media that after a rigorous search, the body of the 40-year-old man was discovered floating in the river by some children who had gone there to fetch water.

Though the exact cause of death is yet to be determined, it is believed that the victim drowned after experiencing a seizure while swimming.
