Teaching in Ghana is not a profession most people would love to venture into. It’s an open secret that the working conditions of the Ghanaian teacher leaves more to be desired and as a result most people view teaching as a stepping stone to greater heights.
Some people have been able to use the teaching profession as a ‘spring board’ to greater heights and they includes;
The popular Kumawood actor has thus far, had a very fulfilling career as an actor as he has starred in over hundred movies. Bill Asamoah is also the Ashanti Regional Chairperson of the Actors Guild.
However, Bill used to be a teacher in a private school which was located in Kumasi.
Though she is no longer teaching, she still plays a huge role in the education of underprivileged children through the Aim Higher Africa Foundation, a non-profit organization focused on improving the quality of education in impoverished communities across Africa.
Kwabena Kwabena
The General Secretary of the N.D.C, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah is a trained teacher. He trained as a teacher at the St. Joseph’s College of Education in Bechem and taught for a while before delving into ‘politricks’.
Ohemaa Mercy
The sensational Gospel Artiste dumped the teaching profession because she said that it was difficult to combine it with her music career.
However, she has plans of building a school in Koforidua.
Kwame Oboadie
It was while he was teaching at Nkawkaw that he took a job at Live FM- a decision which began his career in journalism.
Dan Kweku Yeboah, Emelia Brobbey and Barbara Asher Ayisi were all teachers.
