Over the past few days, a challenge, ‘the Crate Challenge’ emerged and its gone viral which sees people climb up a stack of crates, aiming to get past the fragile crates without falling.
However, a large number of people who have taken part in the challenge have failed to complete the challenge. In the videos, most of them rather receive heavy falls as their ‘reward’ for participating in the challenge.
Probably, as a result of reported injuries due to heavy falls, social media platform, TikTok has banned its users from uploading videos of the challenge on its platform.
TikTok deleted search results for #milkcratechallenge and said in a statement Friday, August, 21, 2021 that the challenge was “publicizing a dangerous activity”.
A spokesperson for TikTok said; “TikTok prohibits content that promotes or glorifies dangerous acts, and we remove videos and redirect searches to our Community Guidelines to discourage such content”. “We encourage everyone to exercise caution in their behavior whether online or off.”
A search for crates challenge on Tiktok will produce; ”No results found. This phase may be associated with behavior or content that violates our guidelines. Promoting a safe and positive experience is Tiktok’s top priority. For more information, we invite you to review our community guidelines.”
