These NPP MPs will not return to Parliament in 2021

The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) was at the polls for their Parliamentary Primaries today, June 20, 2020.

Whiles the day was a happy day for those winning, it will be described as a sad day for those who lost especially the incumbent Members of Parliament who will not return to the house come January 2021.

Some 65 Members of Parliament have gone unopposed whiles the rest were heavily challenged.

Awake Election Watch has been walking through the list of the NPP MPs who lost in the Primaries:

  2. Chairman of Parliament’s Communications Committee, Fredrick Opare Ansah
  3. Chairman of Parliament’s Education Committee, William Quaitoo
  4. Chairman of Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee, Ben Abdallah
  5. Chairman of Parliament’s Government Assurances Committee, Collins Owusu Amankwaah

  11. Okaikwei South’s incumbent Ahmed Arthur lost to female contender Darkoa Newman
  12. Ablekuma North’s Nana Akua Afriyie handed over to Sheila Bartels
  13. Manyhia North’s contest had Collins Owusu Amankwa losing the seat to Akwasi Konadu.
  14. Nhyiaeso saw Kennedy Kankam losing to newcomer Stephen Amoah.
  15. La Dadekotopon had Vincent Sowah Odotei giving way for Gerald Joseph Nyanyofio
  16. Kwesimintsim constituency saw Joseph Mensah making way for fresh face Prince H Armah

  18. Akwatia Constituency’s Ama Sey, lost to male challenger Ernest Yaw Kumi
  19. Daniel Okyem of Bantama Constituency lost to Francis Asenso Boakye
  20. Kofi Brako, Tema Central Constituency
  21. Collins Owusu Amankwa, Manyhia North Constituency
  22. Nhyiaeso saw Kennedy Kankam losing to newcomer Stephen Amoah.
  23. La Dadekotopon had Vincent Sowah giving way for Gerald Joseph Nyanyofio.
  24. Kwesimintsim constituency saw Joseph Mensah making way for fresh face Prince H Armah
  25. In Okaikwei South, incumbent Ahmed Arthur lost to female contender Darkoa Newman.
  26. Oda’s contest saw William Quaitoo relegating the seat to new boy Alexander Ackum.
  27. Ablekuma North saw a change of baton in choice of MP as Nana Akua Afriyie handed over to Sheila Bartels Akwatia’s darling,
  28. Ama Sey, lost to male challenger Ernest Yaw Kumi
  29. Bibiani-Anwiaso-Bekwai’s seat has also gone to newcomer Alfred Obeng Boateng
  30. Kwabena Owusu Aduomi gave up his place for John Kumah in Ejisu.
  31. At the end of the contest in Akim Oda, William Agyapong Quaitoo lost to Alexander Akwasi Acquah.
  32. Navrongo Central saw powerful incumbent, Kofi Adda, handing over to newcomer Tangoba Abayage.
  33. Sissala West had MP Patrick Adamah making way for new entrant Nalewie Baluwie
  34. New Juaben South saw astute politician Mark Assibey Yeboah losing to Michael Okyere Baafi
  35. In Wa East, Godfred Bayon Tangu was floored by Ing. Salifu Yakubu who won after a hard-fought contest.
  36. Sissala East also had Ridwan Abass giving way for new successor Issahaku Amidu Chinnia.
