There should not be any secrecy in Black Stars budget – Mahama

John Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has directed his office and the Minister for Sports to ensure the Ghana Football Association (GFA) remains accountable to the people of Ghana.

President Mahama emphasized that there should be full transparency regarding budgetary allocations for the Black Stars and all other national teams.

He pointed out that since it is the people of Ghana who fund the players through taxes, they have the right to know how much of their taxes are being spent on the national teams.

“The Black Stars have become a pale shadow of their former selves, and there will be no secrecy regarding how much the government allocates to our national teams,” Mahama affirmed. He added that he had instructed the GFA to be held accountable for its financial management.

In addition to the financial transparency, President Mahama expressed the government’s commitment to refurbishing existing sports stadiums and constructing more youth resource centers. He highlighted the importance of fostering local talent and restoring Ghana’s former glory in sports.
