There is no evidence of corruption in my administration – Akufo-Addo tells Mahama

President Akufo-Addo

President Nana Akufo-Addo has today, June 10, 2024, responded to the ‘Clearing Agent’ tag by the National Democratic Congress Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama.

At the official commissioning of the Law House, the president took time to reply to the NDC flagbearer who has repeatedly tagged a “clearing agent”.

The former president and flagbearer of the NDC said Akufo-Addo’s penchant for defending his appointees who are accused of wrongdoing makes him a clearing agent of corruption. This was after the President defended many of his appointees publicly when the public turned against them for shortchanging the country.

“I am sure we are all aware of the statement by the former president and perennial NDC presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama stigmatizing me as a clearing agent because for him mere allegation without more is enough to merit condemnation of an accused public official, especially one of my administration.

“For my part and let me state it again for the record, I will not set aside due process and the rules of natural justice on the altar of the fight against corruption no matter how much opprobrium this position incurs for me,” Akufo-Addo affirmed his staunch defence of his appointees.
