Theatre of Error, The Comparison of Gyakye Quayson and Amadu Sakande

Social media was set ablaze yesterday following the release of the full Supreme Court judgement that ordered Parliament of Ghana to expunge the name of Mr. James Gyakye Quayson from the records.

This led to Parliament to declare the Assim North seat vacant.

Mr. Quayson since his election as Member of Parliament for Assin North has been battling with a dual Nationality case brought against him.

Ever since many have been making similarity references of his case to that of the former Bawku MP’s case.

This is the clear distinction between the two cases:

JAMES GYAKYE QUAYSON

1. James Gyakye Quayson submitted his nomination form to the EC on 9th October, 2020 as a Canadian citizen.

2. James Gyakye Quayson was called to EC to answer a petition brought against him as a Canadian citizen.

James Gyakye Quayson had applied for renunciation of his Canadian citizenship and awaiting the certificate.

The renounciation certificate came on 26th November, 2020 a day before he met EC on 27th of November, 2020.

3. James Gyakye Quayson went to EC Office with renouncing certificate as a Ghanaian Citizen. (27-Nov-2020)

4. James Gyakye Quayson won the 2020 Election as a Ghanaian Citizen.

5. James Gyakye Quayson was sworn in as an MP – Ghanaian Citizen.

6. James Gyakye Quayson was hauled to Supreme court as a *Ghanaian Citizen.*

7. James Gyakye Quayson was ruled against as a *Ghanaian Citizen.*

8. James Gyakye Quayson’s
name was ordered to be expunged from the records of Parliament as a *Ghanaian Citizen.*

9. James Gyakye Quayson
left parliament as *Ghanaian Citizen.*

10. James Gyakye Quayson is ready to battle the enemies of the state as a *citizen of Ghana.*

1. Adamu Sakande submitted his forms as a *UK and Burkinabe Citizen.*

2. Adamu Sakande went through EC procedures as *UK and Burkinabe Citizen.*

3. Adamu Sakande contested the elections as *UK and Burkinabe Citizen.*

4. Adamu Sakande won the MPship as *UK and Burkinabe Citizen.*

5. Adamu Sakande was sworn into parliament whilst holding allegiance to *UK and Burkina Faso.*

6. Adamu Sakande was hauled to court as *UK and Burkinabe Citizen.*
