The Demonstration Still Holds on the Rescue We Go!!! – TTAG calls

In a notice served by the national front of the association on the 5th of November, 2018, all newly trained teachers from the various Colleges of Education in the nation, all continuing students and those on out segment are to hit the streets of Accra on Wednesday 7th November, 2018 for a peaceful protest against National Service for newly trained teachers.

The Teacher Trainees’ Association of Ghana (TTAG) has call on all its members and newly trained teachers to protest and openly register their displeasure towards the Ministry of Education (MoE) and the [ads1]Ghana Education Service(GES) for their failure to employ newly trained teachers for the 2018/2019 Academic year.

The Demonstration which kick start at exactly 8:00am, will witness all Newly trained teachers from all parts of the nation converging at Obra Spot at Kwame Nkrumah circle to proceed with the peaceful protest through the Adabraka Police station road and finally to the Accra Hearts of Oak Park where the petition would be delivered to the office of the Vice President.

Meanwhile, a closed-door meeting was held today between the executive of TTAG and GES to resolve the issue but all efforts by TTAG proof futile.

“Going on, this morning the leadership of TTAG at the National front met with GES and they again stated that we will be doing the National Service for a period of one year and we will be posted by the NSS then after one year we will be given employment based on the financial clearance given by the government when we apply for job. It means that the number of people who will be employed will be reduced drastically because the government will be limiting it based on the financial clearance”

“I, therefore, urge us to engage in this last demonstration to petition the Presidency come tomorrow to see the way forward”. Prince Adjah (Newly Trained Teacher).

Also, the decision by the National Teaching Council (NTC) to license all Newly trained teachers is still pending at the Accra High Court.

Notice served by TTAG is below.
