The Acting Director of Public Affairs of the Ghana Police Service, ACP Kwesi Ofori, affirms Josephine Panyin Mensah faked her pregnancy to seek her husband’s admiration and favor.
He revealed in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM.
ACP Ofori asserted the woman’s decision to fake the pregnancy and kidnapping was based on issues relating to her marriage.
He further disclosed on Citi FM that, Josephine admitted that she planned the plot alone without the help of any relative.
“From her account, she said she did it alone just to satisfy her husband. It was a pure family issue that she wanted to portray that she was pregnant. She did all that for the admiration of her husband.”
A few weeks ago, the media reported that Josephine Panyin Mensah, nine months pregnant had been kidnapped during a dawn walk.
On Tuesday, September 21, 2021, there was news that Josephine had been found in Axim, but without a baby bump which according to eyewitnesses, she claimed had been taken by her kidnappers.
She was subsequently admitted at the Axim Government Hospital, but in a bizarre twist of events, the Western Regional Minister, Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah said the claim of pregnancy and kidnapping by the woman is false.
The two separate medical tests on Josephine conducted by the Police at different hospitals, reports proved she was never pregnant.
Some of her neighbours and family also protested against the police and accused it of spreading falsehood. Some even invoked curses on persons disputing the pregnancy claim.
ACP Ofori said the Police will soon decide on the next line of action.
The Public is surprised why the woman will fake a pregnancy and put herself through so much pressure when she already has one child with the husband.
Meanwhile, Management of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in the Western Region says it has not released medical records of Josephine Panyin Mensah Simons, the twenty-eight-year-old woman at the center of the controversial kidnapping and pregnancy case.
The Medical Director of the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital, Dr. Joseph Tambil disclosed that the hospital may release the medical report of the alleged victim to the police on Monday, September 27, 2021.
