STRANEK-Africa has called for the suspension of the Ghana Card Registration exercise in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.
In a statement, the Executive Director, Nii Tettey Tetteh said the organisation is worried that the National Identification Authority has not issued any communique to suspend the registration exercise.
It said the long queues and congestion at the registration centres can lead to the spread of the disease in case of contact with an infected person.
STRANEK Africa also reminds the NIA to sanitize its equipment and other accoutrements after the suspension of the registration exercise as a drastic measure in stopping the spread of the coronavirus.
The organisation said it is confident that the pandemic would be overcome if Ghana, Africa and the world work together to contain its spread.
