Nii Adama Latse II who filed for defends in court over calls by his opponents challenging his legitimacy as the Ga Mantse and the President of the Ga Traditional Council has won the case.
The Supreme Court in a unanimous decision February 6, 2019 squashed the case between Nii Tetteh Kwei and five others as plaintiffs and Nii Adama Latse II and 17 others as defendants.
The plaintiffs in 2015 filed a writ of summons to challenge the legitimacy and the installation of Nii Adama Latse II as Ga Mantse.
The plaintiffs alleged that the inclusion of Nii Adama Latse II into the National Register of Chiefs as Ga Mantse was fraudulent and pray the court to restrain the defendant from holding himself as Ga Mantse.
The Supreme Court ruled that the matters brought before the High Courts and presided over by Justice Adoley Azu, Justice Gifty Dekyem and Justice Abodankpi are chieftaincy matters and the High Courts have no jurisdiction to hear them which ignited the whole process.
The court, therefore, assured that the status remains with King Tackie Adama Latse II as still the Ga Mantse and President of the Ga Traditional Council.
