There is an uneasy calm between the ruling New Patriotic Party executives in the Suhum Constituency and area Municipal Chief Executive, Margrete Darko Dankwah over an appointment of a certain Samuel Baah, Alias “Gosh”, a former branch Polling station chairman for NDC at Koforidua – Okroase electoral area serving as the media special aide to the MCE.
Samuel Baah, a teacher by Profession who still teaches Literature at Suhum Presbyterian Senior High School and being paid by the [ads1]Assembly Internal Generated Fund.
The angry NPP Members who are not happy with the situation have kicked against the appointment of the teacher to serve as the MCE’s media aide, while the Assembly has a Public Relations Officer and being paid from the assembly’s coffers.
According to the party executives, Samuel Baah, aside from been doing the bid for the MCE has adopted an unthinkable strategy by writing articles to attack and dent the image of the Incumbent Member of Parliament, Fredrick Opare Ansah without any reasons.
Samuel Baah as gathered was recruited by a top politician in the NPP to assist the work of the MCE.
Samuel Baah also serves as the head of operations for a group of selected NPP serial callers in the constituency named ‘’ Media Watch Dogs’’ whose agenda is to attack any individual who speaks against the autocratic leadership style of the Suhum Municipal Chief Executive on radio networks and social media.
Alhaji Mohammed, the Constituency Nasara Club Coordinator who addressed a press conference noted that ever since that ‘’Gosh’’ guy was appointed, he has been a sycophant by causing confusion between them and the MCE.
According to him, “the MCE had loggerheads with almost the active NPP stalwarts in the constituency including the party executives and also brought confusion and division in the party as well as in the Zongo communities’’.
He further noted that the MCE don’t respect the Constituency executives and have adopted an autocratic leadership style which they are calling on the President to act with an immediate effect before they decided what to do.
Alhaji Mohammed stressed that “the executives are not happy with the MCE attitudes towards us. She is so arrogant, she doesn’t respect us including the MP. She does things on her own without our knowledge, all because she said on authority that, the President, senior minister, and the Local Government Minister brought her so nobody can teach her what to do”.
Samuel Baah was a former campaigner for Mr. Julius Debrah, then chief of state and Margaret Ansei, the former MCE whom both contested for the Suhum Parliamentary seat on the ticket of NDC, but lost to Fredrick Opare Ansah, the current rent incumbent of the constituency.
Gosh as popularly known after the NDC lost the 2012 Suhum Parliamentary seat switched to the camp of Bryan Acheampong, a former Aspiring NPP Parliamentary candidate during the NPP primary to campaign against the incumbent MP, Opare Ansah.
The teacher ever since his appointment has adopted an arrogance posture and sycophant behavior by creating confusion between the MCE, Margrete Darko, the incumbent and the party members.
NDC Version
The actions of the MCE has also infuriated the anger of the Suhum NDC members who have cut her into sizes.
In responses to certain attitudes of her, the NDC described her as arrogant and an incompetent MCE ever had in Suhum.
Daniel Chancor, the Suhum NDC constituency communication officer in a statement called on the MCE to stop peddling falsehood about the numerous toilet facilities being spearheaded by an NGO in the constituency as her achievements.
He noted that “The NGO is embarking on these toilet facility projects on unpolitical basis’’.
He said, the MCE who has been clouded by thievery and incompetence, however, went on to state that the following toilet facilities were constructed by the NPP government; NankesE toilet located at Nankese Ahenbromu which is being constructed in a school compound, as well as the Suhum events grounds, Suhum roundabout, and the Nankese market center.
The NDC said ‘’the MCE has demonstrated her incompetence by launching a so-called Suhum Development Agenda group. Explaining their role, she stated that they are there to supervise projects by the Assembly in the municipality’’.
‘’We, therefore, ask what the role of the Municipal assembly is if they cannot supervise projects in the municipality’’.
The statement added that’’ Margaret Darko bringing NPP serial callers and party communicators together to form this so-called Suhum Development Agenda group doesn’t only make her incompetent but also corrupt’’.
They indicated that ‘’She has created an avenue to steal from the assembly coffers to satisfy a job for the boy’s agenda. Their day to day movement will be funded by the municipality which includes their allowances’’.
The angry both NPP and NDC members are, therefore, threatened to demonstrate against her in the coming days if the President failed to sack the MCE and her media aide from the Assembly.
