With much pain in my heart as a Ghanaian student do I write to advise all member institutions of NUGS to withdraw their membership and all forms of mandated obligations from the stated Union.
This has become necessary by reason of the deeply rooted division in the Union which most us believe to be political infiltration.
Indeed, all attempts to overcome this division over the years have [ads1]proved futile and I at this point in time, can only advice all member institutions to withdraw their services and affiliation from NUGS and further concentrate on building USAG if only we want to see the light of the day as Ghanaian students with unity of purpose and not division for a purpose
In fact, students in mother Ghana have come a long way for their intelligence to be cheated upon.
In the midst of current challenges bedeviling well-meaning students in mother Ghana , many including I , fought for, and thought there would be unity congress this year only to see greedy people most of whom are also students with the ability to think and realise the need for unity, have hijacked the union in their parochial interest .
Fellow Ghanaians, I Oscar Komla Bedzra at this point in time do not support any faction and will refuse to further represent or recognize a faction under the union and I think it makes sense if my colleague local SRC and local NUGS Presidents withdraw their services and obligations from the union regardless of their political affiliation(though everyone has a political affiliation but must not be extended to NUGS) because the mother union as it states is non partisan and therefore should not at this moment and period in which students are facing many troubles, be taken for granted .
I think it would be far better if we keep our hard earned contributions that source from the various pockets of poor students like me to our various local accounts geared towards local projects and charity donations that allude to the benefits of the less privileged Ghanaian student.
I feel very sad as a Ghanaian student who was very much interested in seeing NUGS unite only for greedy, selfish and as well, persons excise me to label as anonymous persons of political affiliation to extend such acts to the union not in the interest of you and I, but of their parochial agenda. I do not have any word to describe these bunch of persons but to simply crown them as nation wreckers and that such persons must not be entertained and/or tolerated in fights geared towards Ghana’s development, going forward.
I am by this release calling on all member institutions of the divided and politically perceived union to withdraw their membership , attachment and obligations from NUGS and fully invest into the University Students Association of Ghana (USAG) in order to continue with students activism until when the Union is united as some of us including the local SRC and local NUGS thought and wished .
I am by this release urging my colleague local SRC and NUGS stakeholders to kindly heed to my plea and withdraw their services from the divided Union regardless of political affiliation and invest in USAG just to continue with students activism and students welfare.
WATCH OUT FOR HOTTER DAYS AHEAD.
