His comment less than 24hrs when the Special Prosecutor Bill was passed by parliament taken note that recently, Mr. Samuel Okudzeto [ads1]Ablakwa, former Deputy Education Minister under the NDC’s former President Mahama and a member of Parliament for North Tornu was on record daring the new NPP administration to prosecute officials of the NDC whom some members of the new administration say they are corrupt.
Reacting to Mr. Ablakwa’s assertions, Mr. Nyarko said “Well, with the passage of the Special Prosecutor Bill, the Special Prosecutor (SP) is going to be appointed soon” and cautioned people to be careful what they wish for.
Mr. Nyarko also urged Ghanaians to be interested in ensuring that the Office of the Special Prosecutor be as independent as possible so the office can prosecutes persons without regard to political affiliation.
“We must all be interested in the work of the SP to ensure that it is independent and prosecutes persons without regard to political affiliation, etc.”
