We are sorry for the brutalities – NSS to service personnel

The National Service Secretariat has apologised to Service Personnel for the brutalities they were subjected to by the Military Police who were expected to maintain law and order in the registration process.

Videos on social media are depicting how the service personnel were manhandled by the Military police who were expected to instill discipline in the registration process at the El Wak Stadium.

But the Secretariat has issued an unqualified apology to the personnel who were subjected to brutalities and have pledged to ensure that the registration process is smooth going forward.

A Statement from the Secretariat said “Management wishes to state that the incidents are regrettable, and therefore wishes to apologize to all such national service personnel and the general public for the recorded incidents of congestion which led to the manhandling.Management has put in place measures to ease the congestions and therefore wishes to appeal to all national service personnel to remain calm and go through the registration process smoothly”.

NSS APOLOGIZES FOR RECORDED INCIDENTS OF POLICE AND MILITARY MANHANDLING OF NATIONAL SERVICE PERSONNEL AT NSS REGISTRATION CENTRES

Accra, Ghana – Tuesday, July 25, 2017

It has come to the notice of the Management of the National Service Scheme (NSS) that some national service personnel who were at some of the NSS registration centers to register for the 2017/2018 service year were manhandled by the police and military personnel who were detailed to maintain law and order.

Management wishes to state that the incidents are regrettable, and therefore wishes to apologize to all such national service personnel and the general public for the recorded incidents of congestion which led to the manhandling.

Management has put in place measures to ease the congestions and therefore wishes to appeal to all national service personnel to remain calm and go through the registration process smoothly.
