Soldier kills pedestrian on Tema Motorway

A speeding vehicle driven by a military personnel has killed a pedestrian on the Tema-Accra motorway.

The gory incident happened Wednesday morning, when the military personnel (name withheld) was returning home from duty at the Jubilee House.

According to an eyewitness who is a Fire Officer, David Attobrah, the deceased, whose name was given as Comfort, was crossing the motorway from the Nungua Farms to Community 18, when the vehicle knocked and killed her.

He said Comfort spotted a trailer from afar and considering the snail’s pace of the truck in the inner lane, she decided to cross the dual carriage.

A speeding Hyundai Elantra saloon car with registration number GN 9405-12, being driven by the Army personnel at the First Infantry Battalion, Michel Camp, appeared from the outer lane and knocked Comfort killing her in the process.

The impact carried her into the air before dumping her in the median gutter on the highway.

The remains of the deceased had been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue.
