Dear Mom,
Thanks for being my mom. Thanks for bringing me forth to this world.
Mom, you are the greatest woman in this world.
If I have the chance in the next world to decide who my mom will be, Oh my God….YOU!.
You only I will choose because there can never be any better mom for me like you do.
You made me know and understand that my Home is other people’s Farm and my Farm is their Home too. This is where I learnt that in this world we are each other’s keeper.
You showed me the greatest love ever…as I can vividly recall at the age of 16 when you almost packed your things to leave my father’s in the village when he accused my me of stealing the proceeds of Palm wine tapping business he left with me when he traveled to buy that solar camera to start my own Photography business alongside my shoe making and barbering. These were your very word to my father when he took my camera to crash it….’Efo, if you crash that camera today, I will divorce you and leave with Emma immediately’
You sold all your treasurers and burnt your blood and body in the charcoal making, farming and port selling businesses just to support my education.
It was you great love and courage that motivated me to leave my father’s village to build and reside in my own village all alone at the same age 16.
It was your great love, support and courage that motivated me to get married to YOU-my mom and gave birth to my siblings at age 17 when ‘Efo’ suddenly and painfully join his ancestors.
Is your love that motivated me to treat all women with great honor, respect and dignity because I assume they are all like you. Without you I will have never been who I am.
You trained me to have the heart to easily forgive and make peace with those who hurt me…this is one of the greatest asserts I have. People hate and hurt you because of me.
Mom, you saw that star in me and protected, supported, encouraged and educated me when nobody was willing not even your husband-my father!
Today, I weep as I write you this letter not because am bereaved but because I have not yet have the full chance to show, tell and appreciated you for all that you have done for me.
For now, I have nothing to offer you that can commensurate your meaning in my life…..All i can do is to say THANK YOU and may God bless you with long life!
