Amad Diallo has been sidelined since February with an ankle injury

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim revealed that Amad Diallo could make a surprise return from injury before the end of the season.

Despite a tough campaign for the Red Devils, Amad had been one of the few bright spots, scoring six Premier League goals—more than strikers Joshua Zirkzee (three) and Rasmus Hojlund (two).

Amad has been sidelined for the past month with an ankle ligament injury, and initial reports suggested he would miss the remainder of the season.

However, Amorim expressed hope that the 22-year-old forward might return sooner than expected. “I have the hope to have Amad before [the season’s conclusion],” the Portuguese coach said, indicating that the team might see him back before the season wraps up.

Amorim also offered optimism regarding other players recovering from injury, including Kobbie Mainoo, Harry Maguire, Manuel Ugarte, Mason Mount, and Luke Shaw. However, Lisandro Martinez will not be returning soon after tearing his ACL in February.

Despite these hopeful updates, Amorim acknowledged the ongoing challenges of managing an injury-riddled squad, leaving him with limited options for rotation and in-game changes.

This was evident when United could only name 18 players for their recent 1-1 draw with Real Sociedad in the Europa League.

Amorim admitted that his squad was fatigued, particularly in the final 20 minutes of the match, and he did not expect any of the injured players to be fit for their upcoming Premier League clash with Arsenal. “We need to survive Sunday,” he warned.
