For Immediate Release
RE: WORKS BEGIN ON CASSAVA PROCESSING FACTORY FOR KETA.

My attention has been drawn to the above headline which was published by a popular media house in Ghana called Multimedia LTD on Sunday, September 6, 2020 at 9:25am with the source from the Ghana News Agency (GNA) with the authority from the Municipal Chief Executive for Keta.

Since I am also an entrepreneur and ever ready to support any investor who wishes to promote same in the Keta Municipal Assembly or elsewhere in Ghana, I wish to say I am not in any way against the establishment of Cassava Processing Factory in Keta Municipal Assembly, especially at Tsiame-Dorveme.

Keta Municipal Assembly needs factories but due processes must be followed to ensure the sustainability of the factories.

Friends in the media and the general public, I wish to use the same social media style adopted by MCE, Hon. Godwin Effah to inform the general public, JoyNews and its affiliates that the story they published which suggests that the proposed Cassava Processing Factory at Tsiame-Dorveme is a partnership agreement between the Keta Municipal Assembly and the Hormeku Engineers and Planners LTD is a total DECEPTION and attempts my MCE, Hon. Effah to gain media popularity and also to score a cheap political point in Keta.

I even was shocked that JoyNews even published this deceptive story (https://www.myjoyonline.com/business/agribusiness/work-begins-on-cassava-processing-factory-for-keta/) without first investigating the background of the said project. I challenge the MCE and the Hormeku Engineers and Planners LTD to make the alleged partnership agreement they signed with the Keta Municipal Assembly public.

I wish to place on record that the alleged transaction of the Keta Municipal Assembly with Hormeku Engineers and Planners LTD is shrouded in secrecy.

The whole transaction was just between the MCE, Hon. Effah and the Hormeku Engineers and Planners LTD and for which reason, the General Assembly of the Keta Municipal Assembly at its last meeting held in August 2020, unanimously suspended the proposed budget to support the transaction.

It must also be noted that the Keta Municipal Assembly is not a private company of the MCE, Hon. Effah. The MCE who is the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the assembly and the representative of the central government only has the mandate to implement the decision of the General Assembly and other directives from the central government which are inconsistent with Act 936 (2016) but not his personal decision or decisions.

Since we are all aware of the processes leading to entering any partnership agreement with a private investor or investors, I will not worry you with same.

The government of Ghana has 1D1F Secretariat at the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Accra. They must be consulted on the processes for 1D1F policy.

In conclusion, the MCE, Hon. Effah, JoyNews and the general public should once again be informed that this story which suggests Keta Municipal Assembly is in partnership with the Keta Municipal Assembly for the proposed Cassava Processing Factory at Tsiame-Dorveme is a total deception by the MCE to score cheap political point and same must be disregarded as such.
