Prof. John Gatsi, Gill Norris, Dr. Vanderpuye others win Community Heroes Award

An Economist and philanthropist, Prof. John Gatsi has been adjudged one of the winners of the 2018 Community Heroes Award by the Africa Centre for Peace Building and Awake Africa Magazine.

The educationist and lecturer at the University of Cape Coast won two categories (Education and Community Development) of the median edition of the 2018 Community Heroes Award for his immense contribution to education and community development initiatives in the Ketu North District in the Volta Region through his John [ads1]Gatsi Educational Foundation.

Ms. Gill Norris is the founder of Ghana Education Project (GEP), an NGO based in the Nkwanta South Municipality, Northern part of the Volta Region of Ghana. Though her GEP founded in 1996 then known as TWGGS GHANA has established and run by Tunbridge Wells Girls’ Grammar School at Nkwanta which supports thousands of underprivileged youth with free education.

Dr. Naa Ashiley Vanderpuye-Donton, Medical Director is being honored for “passion, hardwork and determined mind to fight HIV and TB in communities specifically in Ghana and West Africa” together with the West Africa AIDS Foundation in the Health Category of the award.

According to a press statement announcing the winners of the Award, “The Community Heroes Award is an initiative of the Africa Centre for Peace Building and Awake Africa Magazine which seeks to identify, celebrate and honor individuals and organizations who have committed themselves to promote development and peace at the grassroots through social work, entrepreneurship, and selfless leadership”
