Prof. Gyampo hails Mahama for his Youth Town Hall Convo initiative

A political science lecturer, at the university of Ghana, professor Ransford Gyampo has commended the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer for his median Youth Twon Hall Conversation meeting.

The professor, eulogized Mahama citing the advantages the initiative has for the youth and the country at large.

He said “any deliberate effort to dialogue with them before an election via the decent platform of Town Hall, is commendable, as it would help erase the derogatory perception of young people as immature, danger to themselves and agents used to foment conflict. This would in turn seize them with the information with which they can demand accountability from governments”.

Gyampo emphasized that politics in Ghana is all about the youths since they make the majority of the population, after the then Kuffour regime.

“Politics in Ghana, has essentially been politics of the youth. Apart from the Kufuor regime that was understandably gerontocratic, relatively younger people have generally been dominant in everything governance, politics and leadership in Ghana” he sated.

Gyampo noted that “the age cohort of 18 to 35 years is almost 70 percent of Ghana’s voting population”.
He stressed that “any serious effort at winning an election must therefore target the youth for the purposes of engaging them in a civil dialogue on matters germane to their welfare and what can be done about them”.

He further reiterated on his Facebook page that “Virtually all the problems confronting Ghana would be solved if the problems of young people are clearly articulated, properly grasped and addressed”.
