Presidency blows over GH¢450,000 on 4days hotel bills in USA

The Office of the President of the Republic of Ghana has paid an amount of US$73,395 (GHc450,350) being a hotel bill for a 4days stay in Atlanta, Georgia for the Presidential Delegation – Ghana’s Embassy and Presidency correspondents sighted by Awake News reveal.

In the request from Ghana’s Ambassador to the US, Hajia Alima Mahama to the Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana said, “I have the honor to inform you that the Mission has concluded discissions with Fouth Seasons Hotel in Atlanta regarding hotel accommodation for the Presidential delegation to Atlanta Georgia from 29th November to December 2, 2021 and the advance team from 26th November to December 3, 2021”

the letter added that “Accordingly, please find attached the signed agreement, which the Mission is expected to submit to the hotel and also wire-transfer the total amount of Seventy-three thousand three hundred and ninety-five (US$73,395) by Friday, November 5, 2021”

In a letter dated November 2, 2021, the Cheif of Staff, Akusoa Frema Opare has instructed the Bank of Ghana to transfer the said amount to Ghana’s Embassy in the USA.

This is coming on the hills of public out crying on government expenditure and particularly the huge amounts that go into the President’s frequent travels amid rising taxes and hardship in the country.

With this, it means the Ghanaian taxpayers will have to cough another US$73,395 to bill hotel bills alone for a Presetialtal trip to the USA from four days.
