Some traders at Dambai Market in the Krachi East District of the Volta Region are raising a red flag about the location of the premixed fuel station in the middle of the market for years now.
According to them, the location of the fuel station at the middle of the market poses a serious threat to their lives. They were, however, quick to add that they are not against the premix business in the town but [ads1]only concerned about its location.
“We are not against their business [the premix station] but the authorities should consider the effect it may have on our health in future and also in event of a fire out break, all the people around that place will all be affected” – one of the traders told Awake News’ Christiana Ativi
Recalling a fire out break in the market about two years ago that raised down some stores he asked
“who knows when such unfortunate incident will happen again. Are the authorities waiting until such things happens before finding solutions”.
The traders are therefore pleading to the authorities to consider relocating the premix station market in other to prevent any disaster in the near future.
Speaking to Awake News, the premix coordinator for Krachi East, West and Nchumuru Districts, Mr Jacob Daseavor concerning the situation said although he resume office as the coordinator not quite long, he noticed the situation and is in consultation with both leaders to know the exact place to relocate the fuel station. When asked how long, he couldn’t give any specific date but said very soon.
