Kingmakers of the Kwei Opletu Royal Family, one of the three gates of the Prampram Traditional Area, have sacked their head of family, Justice David Abbey, effective September 1, 2021.
The decision was arrived at after the family had concluded their investigations that Justice Abbey allegedly enstooled one Quarcoopome Parker as chief of Prampram without the approval and notice of kingmakers.
The Stool Father of the traditional area was allegedly oblivious of the processes leading to the selection and the subsequent enstoolment of the said chief.
Contained in a statement autographed by Helius Annor Opletu, Daniel Annertey Abbey and Numo Osabu Abbey IV, the Paramount Stool Father, cited gross incompetence, the creation of disunity and division in the family by Justice Abbey since his appointment four years ago.
The statement continued that the actions of Justice Abbey have broken the peace Prampram used to enjoy, thus creating lingering tension in the area.
“Justice Abbey, after his appointment, failed to accord his kingmakers the needed respect, and also failed to attend any of the family meetings. He, instead, joined forces with his cohorts to tarnish the reputation of the Kwei Opletu We,”.
After outlining the reasons for relieving Justice Abbey of his position, the statement said Daniel Annertey Abbey, therefore, becomes the duly appointed head of the Kwei Opletu We, pending his official swearing-in by the Paramount Stool Father, Numo Osabu Abbey IV.
