Three notorious armed robbers have been shot dead by the police after a shootout at Opeibea, near Airport on August 9, 2021.
The names of the three shot robbers have been given as Akika Christian Roberts, Alhassan and Alhaji.
In a press release signed by the Acting Director-General, Public Affairs of the service, ACP Kwesi Fori, said “intelligence available to the police indicates that, the gang planned to attack and rob a businessman who was to withdraw money from a bank around Airport”.
The police revealed that Akika Christian Robert who was armed with a Taurus foreign pistol shot and wounded a Police officer in the shootout. The wounded Police officer who was shot in the right leg was said to be in a stable condition.
Meanwhile, two suspects; Abdul Latif, 47, and Prosper Koku, 27 who were suspected to be part of the gang were arrested and are currently in the grips of the police, assisting in the investigation.
