Police pursue four members of NDC ‘Hawks’ over Ashanti Region shooting

Police have begun investigation into the shooting incident that occurred at the Ashanti Regional office of the National Democratic Congress Monday resulting in the death of one person with another in critical condition.

According to available information, the regional and national executives of the NDC were in a meeting when some gun-wielding men on motorbikes invaded the party office in Amakom and started shooting “indiscriminately”.

Some members of the opposition NDC have accused the vigilante groups of the ruling NPP of been behind the incident.

But the Ashanti Regional Police command says it has identified four men to be the suspects.

A statement from the command indicates that information gathered at the scene of the incident suggest that the attack was carried out by some four men believed to be members of NDC vigilante group, the Hawks.

The four, Husein Barnabas aka Warrior, Damos, Mijima and Abu Taliban have been declared wanted by the Police.

The police further urged the general public to remain calm as it is working closely with the NDC executives to get perpetrators arrested.

“Anyone with information on the suspects should assist the police by volunteering information that can lead to their arrest,” the Ashanti Regional Police Command stated.
