President of the Republic, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, will be in Parliament today to deliver his third State of the Nation Address (SONA).
The SONA which has become an important constitutional obligation, will enable Ghanaians receive updates from the President on how the different sectors of the country including the economy, education, industry, healthcare, agriculture, sanitation, security and infrastructure are faring.
President Akufo-Addo is required to brief citizens on recent events in the country, progress made on ongoing projects and how government aspires to resolve challenges in the different sectors to bring relief to Ghanaians in the coming days.
As Parliament hosts the First Gentleman of the land today, many Ghanaians expect his address to highlight issues of security as many are living in fear following the wave of political violence, murders and kidnapping incidents. The state of insecurity has become a course for concern more especially as this stifles business growth and impedes development.
Energy
Citizens want the President to tell them how his government intends to address the recent intermittent power outages (Dumsor).
Talk of the economy, the depreciating Ghana cedi is another major concern for many Ghanaians and business moguls will be earnest to hear President Akufo-Addo touch on that.
Education, healthcare, 1D1F, railway development, one village one dam are also some of the government policies that are expected to be addressed by the President before the House today.
