Our economy is doing better now, the best is coming – Akufo-Addo

President Akufoo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo has touted the government’s economic management abilities, stating that they have turned things around. He said though things are not perfect yet, the economy is now better, especially after going through a horror period due to COVID-19.

President Akufo-Addo who was addressing the 11th Annual Conference of Chairpersons of Governing Boards/Councils, Chief Directors & Chief Executives at Kwahu-Nkwatia, appealed to CEOs to embrace digitalization.

“I make an appeal to all chairs of governing boards and CEOs to welcome and initiate actions to digitalize their business operations,” President Akufo-Addo told the Conference.

He said, there is potential for the economy if businesses embrace digitalization because of the number of Ghanaians who use digital technologies.

“With some seventeen million of our fellow citizens now possessing a digital ID linking them seamlessly to the critical services they need to thrive in the modern world,” it is imperative that businesses take advantage of the numbers.

Using figures in mobile money adoption to illustrate how Ghanaians are embracing change, President Akufo-Addo said the numbers are too huge to ignore by businesses.

He said “mobile money adoption has increased considerably with some 44 million accounts registered by the end of 2023 and transactions surpassing GH¢ 1 trillion.” Additionally, the “percentage of adults with access to financial services has risen from 58% in 2017 to some 80% in 2023, representing a remarkable achievement that has transformed countless lives and opened up new horizons of opportunity.”

He entreated businesses to look at those numbers and embrace digital technology to push their businesses to new grounds.
