“Our Chairman has been arrested” – NDC finally admits

The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has finally admitted that its National Chairman, Mr. Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department of Ghana Police Services at about 3:00pm today in Accra.

The news of the Chairman’s arrest was earlier published by Awake News, but some party executives have dismissed the report saying the Chairman has not been arrested and that he was at the time of the report on an NDC Heroes and Heroines Tour in some parts of the country.

However, hours after the publication, it has been confirmed by a statement signed by the General Secretary, Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia admitting that the Chairman has indeed been arrested and after an arrest and search warrant has been served on him.

Mr. Ofosu-Ampofo about a month ago was invested by ht e Police CID to assist in an investigation over what the Police said he could be linked to the recent incidents of kidnap and fire outbreaks in the country.

This was preceded by his earlier arrest and charge over alleged leaked tape where he allegedly said the EC Boss, Jean Mensa and the National Peace Council Chairman, Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Asante need to be kidnapped. Allegations he has since denied.
