Opulence at Tema West Assembly: MCE’s monthly rent costs US$650, pays US$100 to a chauffeur daily

The Presiding Member (PM) for Tema West Assembly, Kwasi Poku Bosompem, has told Awake News on telephone that he would invite the Assembly’s Finance Officer and Coordinating Director to a Public Relations Complaint Committee (PRCC) meeting to confirm or deny this reporter’s investigation of profligacy on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

According to Awake News investigations, the Tema West Assembly has rented a magnificent apartment for Adjoa Amoako, the MCE, in Community 18, and pays US$650 as monthly rent. What is more insulting to the taxpayer is that the MCE does not stay in the residence; she still stays in her matrimonial apartment with her husband.

On top of that, the Assembly pays the MCE’s personal female chauffeur US$100 daily for her service.

After efforts to reach Adjoa Amoako and Joseph Buabeng, Tema West Assembly’s Finance Officer, on the subject proved futile, Awake News contacted Kwasi Poku Bosompem, the Tema West Presiding Member, and in his response, he said the MCE was entitled to an official residence, which the Assembly had provided to her.

“But the figure is what I do not know. I will, therefore, call a PRCC meeting with the Finance Officer and Coordinating Director to confirm or deny your findings,” Kwasi Poku Bosompem said via telephone.

The PM’s response, perhaps, to conceal such vital information to the public was bizarre to Awakenews for as a PM, such details ought to be available on his desk, unless some persons at the Assembly are engaged in some shady deals they would him to be oblivious of, because, he is as maverick as Kennedy Agyapong, Legislator of Parliament (MP) for Assin Central.

The Tema West Assembly is only six months old and such extravagance with careless abandon is a smack to the taxpayer, who expects improvement in their infrastructure and security in the area.

Awake News would keep its readers on the beat with the outcome of the PM’s findings.
