I salute you Mr president of the Republic of Ghana. With the most bloody heart, and the most horrible dried- pocket Xmas Yuletide ever celebrated, I want to congratulate you and your bedeviled EC Boss for rolling out the cheapest campaign promise {creation of new regions}.
The reason for creating these new regions is no longer a piece of news to the people of Ghana. To the majority of them, it’s a welcoming idea. To few, it’s not necessary. It’s not necessary because developmental projects can get to the doorsteps of the people without dividing them into segments or classes.
Mr. President, I want to say that we have the district, municipal and metropolitan assemblies that can mediate any developmental projects that your government wants to embark on. We also have the local government as well. These are government institutions that have roles to play in extending development to the hinterlands. Unless you tell us that you have collapsed them as you have collapsed some banks but have seen the importance of recapitalizing others. Maybe you don’t Know, so we want to tell you that you are a president for all and not for only a few people. If you can recapitalize certain banks, then why can’t you do the same for others? This is just by the way.
This is not the first time that new regions are created in the history of Ghana. The Central Region was beautifully carved out of the Western Region. Before then, what infrastructural development was there? And what has been the infrastructural development over the years? The perception has been that attention is only given to the regional capitals. Towns which already have few social amenities.
Mr. President, this time I want you to make a difference. If really you mean good for the people of these newly created regions, I would advise you not to locate the regional capitals where we perceive already have social amenities, but rather use the remote areas or the villages as the regional capitals. This is when we can feel the positive impact of the creation of the new regions. What is good for the goose is equally good for the Ganda.
The poor have been neglected for long. Take this opportunity and for ones, touch the lives of the poor in the country and you shall be praised.
So many suggested places have popped up. Their arguments are that they have amenities, pls don’t listen to them. Their criteria for the selection of the capitals will be a dangerous way to achieving your goals and objectives for the creation of these new regions, that’s if u don’t have a self- centered achievements plan.
There are places in Ghana where access to drinkable water is a problem. Water that is given to our animals in our houses are even cleaner than the water these people drink, the water we flush our toilets with is even better than the water these people drink. Some of these people have never seen electricity in their lives, roads to these places are horrible sights. women die as a result of the lack of these social amenities. But all these people que to vote. These are the people who need development.
Take the regional capitals to the hinterlands and save lives.
SAVE A SINGLE SOUL TODAY AND SAVE THOUSANDS of VOTES TOMORROW
Thank you.
