The Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Obiri on Accra based Dadi 101.1 FM has warned that anyone who attempts to disrupt the upcoming compilation of the new Voter’s register would be beaten mercilessly.
Nana Obiri Boahen also indicated that the violence that happened during the Ayawaso West Wuogon bye-election was just a tip of the iceberg.
In retaliation, the Central Regional Deputy youth Organizer in charge of operations for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr Bright Botchway has also fired some missiles this morning on Nana Obiri Boahen for making such comments.
According to the NDC organizer, he wake up this morning only to see some social media portals talking about Nana Obiri Boahen for making some uncouth statements in relation to the compilation of the new voter’s register.
“I am told that Nana Obiri Boahen has issued some threats that he will make sure those who resist the compilation of the new voters register is beating mercilessly”, he said.
Mr Botchway on speaking to the Central Regional correspondent of politicsafrika.com, emphasized that though Nana Obiri Boahen is noted for making unnecessary comments but he is still in doubt about what he’s hearing concerning this particular issue. Especially for the fact that Nana Obiri Boahen happens to be an honourable man. But was quick to hearken back that if it happens to be true that Nana Obiri Boahen really said that, then relevant state institutions should act quickly and pick him up for questioning.
He also asserts that the man might not be in his right sense of mind if indeed he made such an unguided comments. He referred Obiri Boahen’s to be taken to the psychiatric hospital for some mental examination.
Mr Botchway was so worried about why some politicians could spew words like this to incite people to cause mayhem or to plunge the nation into chaos.
He as well indicated clearly that we shouldn’t politicize this issue in any circumstances since its continuous toleration have a long term repercussion effect on this nation.
He was still confused about why Nana Obiri Boahen could make such an unfathomable comments. Since he believe his comments does not deserves his position as a leader of a party like NPP.
Mr Botchway has planned to petition relevant state institutions to take the necessary steps to call this man to order.
