NPP’s manifesto full of statements, no dynamic interventions – GII

Mary Awelana Addah on NPP manifesto

Mary Awelana Addah, Executive Director, GII

Mary Awelana Addah, the Executive Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative, has labeled the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 manifesto as a document full of vague statements.

Speaking on JoyNews’ “Upfront”, she explained that the NPP’s anti-corruption proposals lacked concrete interventions. She remarked that details on how these proposals would be implemented were left to speculation.

She said “A manifesto which came with 260 pages, I was expecting that at least, we will have some dynamic or specific strategic interventions that will show how it [fighting corruption] will be done, but they are just statements that have been made”.

Mad. Awelana expressed that if anyone wants to fight corruption, they must prove they are incorruptible.

“If you want to fight corruption, you need to show us that ‘I am not corrupt’. What are some of the indicators of that incorruptibility that you want to bring on board,” she added.
