NPP MPs turns parliament into hotel, sleeping galore at majority side

Some members of parliament of the New Patriotic Party, NPP has turn parliament into a hotel, sleeping galore at the majority side of the house.

They gathered in Parliament House at 4am this morning to secure the side of the house where the majority caucus sits as the house reconvenes today 15th, January 2021.

It would be recalled that after the 2020 elections the NPP performed poorly in maintaining their number of seats in the august house, while the opposition National Democratic Congress, NDC, secured a majority of the house, but due to legal suits from the NPP the number of seats on both sides has been reducing to 137, 137 with an independent candidate.

During the swearing-in on 6th January 2021 of these MPs elect, the NDC MPs arrived at the floor of the house before the NPP and occupied the right side of the house, this did not sit well with the NPP MPs, taking a cue from the NDC MPs, some of the NPP MPs arrived in the house as early as 4 AM this morning to occupy the majority side of the floor.

An MP Hon. Sheila Barrels a member of the NPP wrote on her social media wall, “It is worth noting that for today’s sitting of parliament, myself and other members of the majority arrived within the precincts of parliament, as early as 4 AM. Looking forward to a fruitful engagement on the business of the day. Good morning and have a great day!”

However, this issue of who sits where has been resolved amicably by the leadership of both sides of the house and In any case, the leader of the NDC caucus had stated that they have no qualms sitting on any side of the house. It is baffling how the NPP leadership failed to inform their MPs of this development and allowed some them to leave the comfort of their beds to be early enough to sit on the right hand side of the speaker.

Why they must serve as security guards over the seats on the right side of the house and for how long do they intend guarding those seats ? are questions begging for answers?
