NPP lifts suspension on former general secretary Kwabena Agyepong

Kwabena Agyepong

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has lifted the suspension on the former general secretary of the party, Kwabena Agyepong.

Mr Agyepong in 2015 was suspended by the NPP, NEC together with the then former National Chairman, Paul Afoko and first Vice National Chairman, Sammy Crabbe for questioning of some financial malfeasance.

Report says the committee passed the ruling on Monday, 25th January 2021, after they held a meeting to deliberate on the lifting of the suspension of Mr. Kwabena Agyepong, the party’s decision stems from the role he played in just ended 2020 general election. Mr Kwabena Agyepong was seen campaigning vigorously for candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo around the country in a bid to ensuring a second term victory for the NPP party on 7th December 2020.

Mr. Agyepong is now free to contest any position in the NPP party, however he would not be reinstated as there is a substantive acting general secretary, in the person of John Boadu.
