A member of the Communications team of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) says he is saddened by the inability of government to prosecute corrupt officials under the previous John Mahama administration.
According to Benjamin Akowuah Acheampong, this “failure” by the Akufo-Addo government is giving Ghanaians reason to believe the NPP and NDC are same in terms of corruption despite efforts by the NPP to rid the system of corrupt activities.
He said, though government has set up the Office of the Special Prosecutor which has been well resourced and given adequate budgetary allocation to execute its mandate, not even a single official under the Mahama government has been prosecuted for engaging in corrupt deals after more than two years in office.
“We have pampered the NDC corrupt officials and treated them as spoilt children and now they have the temerity to point accusing fingers at us,” Mr. Acheampong said in a statement.
“The President and his competent team have so far delivered 41 Tangible Achievements but like Oliver twist Ghanaians still want to see more. With all the deliverables one key thing Ghanaians want to see is prosecution of NDC corrupt officials,” he stated.
The NPP Communicator believes the failure to pursue corruption cases as promised is an endorsement of the return of the NDC in 2020.
He said, the implication of officials of the Akufo-Addo government in bribery and corruption in undercover pieces by Anas Aremeyaw Anas clearly proves that the NPP is being forced to prosecute its own.
“The irony of the whole issue is that, Anas Aremeyaw Anas in honour of a murdered colleague decides to put a spotlight on one of the President’s pet project and it has come to light that one of the President’s trusted Presidential Staffer and the Party’s Regional Secretary in the Western Region, as well as some staff members of the presidency, are alleged to be engaged in bribery, corruption, aiding and abetting of crime (Galamsey).”
“Anas Aremeyaw Anas has subsequently petitioned our Special Prosecutor to prosecute our government and party Officials. The Martin Amidu we all know will not leave anyone off the hook irrespective of the person’s status in Government or the party.
It appears we are been forced to prosecute our own making us a laughing stock to the very NDC the good people of Ghana voted out because of corruption,” Mr. Acheampong asserted.

“THE IRONY OF OUR CORRUPTION FIGHT; NOW WE ARE BEEN FORCED TO PROSECUTE OUR OWN…”
We campaigned on Corruption because for the first time we saw a government that was corrupt from it’s head to the tail. This was evidenced by a sitting President taking a Ford Car gift for awarding an inflated contract…
Ghanaians voted the NDC out with anger and believed in the hope the NPP offered them not forgetting the reassuring promises we gave them.
When the good people of Ghana gave us the overwhelming mandate, we have not disappointed at all.
The President and his competent team have so far delivered 41 Tangible Achievements but like Oliver twist Ghanaians still want to see more.
With all the deliverables one key thing Ghanaians want to see is prosecution of NDC corrupt officials. The President have so far shown commitment by setting up a Special Prosecutor Office and appointing one of the most qualified anti-corruption crusaders, Hon. Martin Amidu to head it.
For all indications, his office has been well resourced and given adequate budgetary allocation to execute it’s mandate. We have pampered the NDC corrupt officials and treated them as spoilt children and now they have the temerity to point accusing fingers at us.
We have given the ordinary Ghanaian the opportunity to conclude that the NDC and NPP are the same. For more than 2yrs in government we have failed to pursue any substantial corruption case.
The irony of the whole issue is that, Anas Aremeyaw Anas in honour of a murdered colleague decides to put a spotlight on one of the President’s pet project and it has come to light that one of the President’s trusted Presidential Staffer and the Party’s Regional Secretary in the Western Region as well as some staff members of the presidency are alleged to be engaged in bribery, corruption, aiding and abetting of crime (Galamsey).

Are we not embolding the comeback of the incompetent one? Hmmmmm… I am really sad…
