NPP Central Regional office Vandalized; Transport Minister, MP fingered

There was a drama at the Central Regional Office of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Tuesday afternoon, August 6, 2019, when some well built men stormed the office to disrupt an ongoing vetting and vandalized the office.

The Regional Secretariat of the party was said to be vetting Parliamentary Candidate Aspirants of orphan constituencies in the region when the vetting committee was alerted that some members of the party were coming to attack the office hence the decision for the vetting committee to halt the exercise and ask the aspirants to evacuate the premises hurriedly.

It was said that whiles the vetting was to take off, some concerned members of party had also called a press conference to register their displeasure about the frivolous suspension of the 1st Vice Chairman, Mr Ekow Ewusie.

A member of the executives in the Central Region, disclosed to Awake News on condition of anonymity that it has been alleged that the Transport Minister, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah and Assin South Member of Parliament, Rev. Ntim Fordjour are those behind the orchestrated attacks on the Regional Office in their bid to paint a picture that the attackers are on the instructions of the suspended 1st Vice Chairman, Ekow Ewusie.

“In order to satisfy the bid of the Regional Chairman and tarnish the image of Ekow Ewusie, they organized some well built men in a vehicle to vandalize the regional party office.” – the NPP member told Awake News

“Their car numbers have been picked and some pictures taken of them and the matter has been reported to the police with all these evidence.” – He added on anonymity.

The Central Region NPP has been turmoil for the past few weeks following a petition by one Edward Okraku Adum leveling series of allegations against Mr. Ewusie which he [Ewusie] has since denied the content of the petition and sued the petitioner for defamation.

In a rather interesting twist, the Central Regional Chairman, Mr. Robert Kutin Jnr has acted on the Mr. Okraku Adum’s petition addressed to the National Security Minister and copied him [Mr. Kutin] to suspend the his 1st Vice Chairman.

Mr. Kutin Jnr’s action has been met with demonstration by some member of the NPP from the Central Region demanding for the reinstatement of their Vice Chairman saying Mr. Kutin Jnr’s action is unjustified and not within his powers.
