I recently saw a WhatsApp post in which a small boy was crying at his own shadow!! Obviously he was afraid of his shadow so anytime he turned and saw his shadowy self following him he ran and cried. Since the shadow had nowhere to go he underwent this avoidable torture for some time.
[ads1]Relevance? In NPP’s Ghana anytime the Jubilee-House-in-Flagstaff -House employees realise that their communicators would be whipped to the bone by NDC communicators due to one of their numerous goofs, they throw in a senseless gaffe, direct their press cohorts to give that gaffe all the unholy prominence so that their communicators can clutch on that and at least make some face-saving exit from the studios.
So I was not surprised when I saw yet again another hollow attempt at diverting attention from the disgusting USA military agreement. ( I feel ashamed when I see it was written as Ghana – USA Agreement because this is an imposition on a clueless, accursed leadership)
This time around the red herring was so hollow that even my primary 4 son Kojo saw through it.
Their communicators, as usual, took on the chorus with my good friend Hon Kyeremantin Agyarko taking the lead vocals and shouting “shame, shame, shame to all those who are against the name change from Flagstaff House to Jubilee House.
That is where my son queried “but daddy so it means these people are more afraid of the name “Flagstaff” than a military base?”
Having listened to the main arguments I want to believe that my son is right after all.
The Npp is afraid of the name “Flagstaff House” than the military base and at a time when all well-meaning Ghanaians are more afraid of the bogus agreement and what it means for our “Freedom and Justice”
The arguments I have heard are more centred on the fact that the name “Flagstaff” reminds us of our historical colonial past. Indeed I am at a loss as to how anybody in his right frame of mind can think that Ghana’s, history and for that matter that of most African states, can ever be complete without reference to our colonial past? Well……
Maybe the name Flagstaff house is haunting them because of the alleged atrocities their forebears committed there during and immediately after the overthrow of the Osagyefo.
Are we now getting a reason why president Kuffour and King Promise never slept at the house even after billions of Ghana CEDI’s was spent on renovations?
Granted that their position about the fact that the colonial name is too terrible to be accepted in Ghana how can you compare that to the invitation of the Americans to recolonise us? I am not going into the merits or demerits of the one side agreement today but I am bringing back the analogy of the poor child and his shadow in the WhatsApp video and want to conclude that NPP is more afraid of colonial relics (the ubiquitous shadow) and would do all in its power to rewrite our history without our colonial past but by some oxymoronic twist would invite other countries to recolonize us!!
Show me the difference between these high fliers and the boy in my video.
