The Salt Lake Youth Association in Nima has embarked on a clean up exercise in the community to keep the environment clean.
They desilted the gutters, swept and collected all the rubbish in the vicinity. Some of the areas they cleaned are Frankies down, Ayigbe store and the Kanda highway.
Every last Sunday of the month, members of the group come together to clean Nima and its surroundings.
Salt Lake Youth Association is made of 50 young men drawn from Nima. Their aim is to offer humanitarian service, tackle sanitation problems in the community and assist schools in the area with educational materials.
As part of their one year anniversary, the group plan to donate books to some schools in the area and also clean up the Nima government hospital.
The Vice Chairman of the group, Michael Kwadwo Oppong advised residence to always keep their surroundings clean and also practice good personal hygiene.
He appealed to philanthropist and organizations to assist them to carry on with their activities.
The group goes by the slogan ‘We are all one’.
