NDC’s manifesto for December polls available – Mahama reveals

The Campaign message of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2020 elections dubbed ‘The People’s Manifesto’ is ready according to the Flag Bearer of the NDC.

Mr. Mahama announcing this on his Facebook page today July 1, 2020, indicated  “I have received a copy of our manifesto for the December 2020 elections from the Manifesto Working Committee. This document, The People’s Manifesto, will represent the NDC and my social contract with the good people of Ghana. I thank you all for your contributions to the compilation, and as I have promised, I look forward to the Policy Dialogue Series through which I will be sharing details of the various sectors and themes of the Manifesto.

After the 2016 General elections, the NDC lost shamefully to the ruling New Patriotic Party. To find a solution to the cause of the NDC party losing badly to the Kwesi Botchwey committee was formed to find out the grievances of party people and how best such grievances can be addressed in a new NDC government.

After the Kwesi Botchwey committee report, one major finding was the NDC party implementing policies that suits the few elites in power not giving ears to the plight of the ordinary citizen on the street to make lives better for them.

After the Kwesi Botchwey findings, the NDC came up with an idea to have a campaign message based on the will of the Ghanaian people but not a few elites in power and so inaugurated a 21-member election committee chaired by a former Minister of Health under the Mills-led administration, Professor Kwaku Danso-Boafo and was tasked to tour all the 16 regions of the country in an attempt to solicit the views and concerns of the ordinary Ghanaian regarding how they would want the party to govern them.

The committee also held discussions with other stakeholders such as labor movements, civil society organizations, and important key players in the country’s economy in order to come out with a well-designed manifesto that will focus on alleviating people from poverty and other economic hardships.
