NDC Youth Manifesto launch ‘forces’ Bawumia to suspend campaign – Edudzi Tameklo claims

The Director of Legal Affairs of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Lawyer Edudzi Tameklo, has claimed that the Vice President and flagbearer of the ruling party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, was compelled to cut short his campaign tour due to the impactful launch of the NDC’s Youth Manifesto.

The manifesto was unveiled in Accra on Monday, August 12, 2024, in celebration of International Youth Day. The event drew a significant crowd, including key figures from the NDC.

Shortly after the launch, the Vice President’s campaign team issued a press statement announcing the suspension of his campaign.

According to the Director of Communications, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the suspension was necessary to allow the team to finalize the NPP’s 2024 manifesto, which is scheduled to be launched on Sunday, August 18.

“The Flagbearer of The New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will from today 12th August 2024, take a short break from his constituency focused Possibilities Tour.

“The leader of the New Patriotic Party will together with the team, spend the next few days to prepare and finalize the NPP 2024 Manifesto, which is scheduled to be launched on Sunday August 18, 2024,” parts of the press statement read.

In response to this, Mr. Tameklo stated that Bawumia suspended his campaign to reassess his campaign message.

“Bawumia abruptly suspends his campaign to rework his campaign messages after the NDC Youth Manifesto launch yesterday. Fantastic,” Mr. Tameklo wrote on social media.
