The National Youth Organizer (NYO) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), George Opare Addo, popularly known as Pablo, has threatened retaliation against some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) who allegedly assaulted the Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer, Masawudu Suleman, and others over the weekend.

The incident, which reportedly left Suleman bloodied, occurred on Saturday, September 7, at the residence of a former constituency chairperson. Other NDC members were also allegedly attacked.

Since the incident, Pablo has expressed concern over the silence of the Ghana Police Service, noting that no arrests have been made so far.

In a press statement dated Monday, September 9, Mr. Addo urged the police to arrest the perpetrators of the crime within 48 hours, failing which “the NDC Youth Wing will respond in a more brutal, decisive, and forceful manner in seven days.”

He also directed the party’s youth to remain on alert and be ready to defend themselves against such threats wherever they may find themselves.

“All NDC youth are hereby directed to remain on high alert and fully prepared to defend themselves at all times,” adding that “[NDC youths] will not be intimidated by the NPP or misguided NPP activists in the Police Service. Any further aggression will be met with swift and decisive action.”
