NDC supporters storm CID headquarters over Ofosu Ampofo’s ‘arrest’

Following rife rumours that the police may detain their National Chairman, supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have reportedly stormed the CID headquarters in Accra.

Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has been invited by the Ghana Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for a leaked tape in which he is alleged to uttered statements that are considered security threats to Jean Mensah, the Chairperson of Ghana’s Electoral Commissioner (EC), and the chairman of the Peace Council Professor Emmanuel Asante.

Awakenewsonline gathers that the suspect, Mr Ampofo, has a team of seasoned NDC lawyers led by Tony Lithur who had already gone ahead of their client to Police CID headquarters.

Mr Ampofo had, though, denied the statements attributed to him on the alleged tape, the CID would want him to show up to better defend himself.

Police personnel, according to information from the venue, have positioned themselves to withstand the crowd that are fast massing up at the frontage of the headquarters.
Vehicular traffic is expected to worsen.
