The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has rebutted suggestions by the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the government Agenda 111 initiative is not in good faith.

Speaking at a press conference to rebuttal claims by former President John Mahama and other members of the NDC that the government’s ambitious Agenda 111 initiative “is an afterthought”, NPP Communications Director Yaw Buaben Asamoa, said the opposition party is exhibiting fears that the program is set to be a game-changer to defeat their archaic model of regime change every eight years.

“They are afraid we will break the eight. Agenda 111 complements major reforms in the health sector”, he reiterated.

The governing party communications director at the media engagement, which took place in Accra on Friday, August 20, 2021, further accused the NDC of desiring that an initiative that holds great benefit for the Ghanaian masses stopped because it threatens their chances of winning power in the 2024 election.

‘Agenda 111’ is President Akufo-Addo and the NPP health infrastructure project initiative that aims at building 111 regional, district and specialist hospitals across the country. But former President Mahama and the NDC doubt the government’s ability to deliver the promise in their current tenure of office.

Each of the hospitals is expected to cost $16.88 million, with $12.88 million being used for the construction of the hospitals and $4 million for medical equipment.
