Research conducted by Dangme News, the leading and first-ever community newspaper in the Dangme land has revealed that, the sitting Member of Parliament for Shai-Osudoku Constituency, Hon. Linda Obenewaa Ackweley Ocloo is likely to floor and end the hope of her opponents once again which is likely to end the political ambition of her opponents.

The research conducted by Dangme News revealed that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, the sitting MP is likely to get the nod for the second time with about 70-80% of the votes on 24th of this month.

The paper also picked that, there are about 847 delegates in the constituency and the sitting MP is likely to get about 600 of the votes.  The MP, now affectionately called ‘SHOW MAMA’, had won the heart of most of the delegates as a result of her massive social interventions in the constituency in her first term in parliament.

Recently the confederation of Governance Assessment Institute (COGAI) honored her with the Pan African Honorary Award for her massive contribution in Parliament at the Committee level.

Kpessah Leads briefly in 2018

This paper research conducted in 2018, however, revealed that Dr. Michael Kpessah-Whyte Dominated in the Shai-Osudoku constituency. This was due to some information’s which led to the change of some constituency executives.

Fast forward, the table quickly turned with a later report of various projects showcased by the incumbent MP, Hon. Linda Akweley Ocloo to the delegates.  According to the report from the MP’s accounting to the people, between 70- 80% of the delegates attested to the fact that the projects were evidence-based, and there is the need to give her the second chance to continue with the projects she had started.

Flashback

In 2016, Linda Akweley Ocloo gave her late Husband a glowing tribute by beating Dr. Michael Kpessa Whyte for the second time, to win the National Democratic Congress’ parliamentary primary, in the Shai Osudoku Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

Mrs. Linda Akwele Ocloo, then with no political experience, whose husband died in a tragic car crash in March after he won the primary, shockingly opted to contest, ostensibly in memory of her husband.

There were suggestions she could not make any impact and would be no match for Dr. Kpessa Whyte,  then the Executive Director of the National Service Secretariat, who contested her late husband in the first primary of four contestants and came second.

But at the end of voting on Saturday, June 18, Linda Akwele Ocloo polled 5,156 votes, with Dr. Kpessa Whyte managing 3,372 votes.

Linda Ocloo strangely polled more votes than her late husband, Desmond Ocloo in the previous primary.
