The largest opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has slated January 19th, 2019 for the election of a flagbearer, that will lead the party in to the 2020 general elections.
Weeks after the party’s National Delegates Congress in Accra, party members have been in the dark as to when the elections of the flagbearer will take place – a contest that was originally scheduled for December 7th.
In a meeting held on Wednesday, the National Executive Council (NEC) has concluded that nomination forms should sell at GH¢20,000 while candidates will have to pay GH¢400,000 as the filing fee.
Female candidates however, will pay 50% less of the filing fee while there will be an additional reduction for aspirants with physical disabilities.
The party is expected to hold a press conference on Thursday, November 29, to give detailed information about the process.
In the race are Former President John Dramani Mahama, Hon. Kingsford Alban Bagbin, Dr. Spio-Gabrah, Sylvester Mensah, Goosie Tanoo, Prof. Joshua Alabi, Hon. Kojo Bonsu, among many others.
