NDC MP Challenges Okoe-Boye on Mahama’s Campaign Funding Inquiry

Rockson Etse Dadeamekpor, MP, South Dayi

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for South Dayi constituency in the Volta Region, Rockson Etse Dafeamekpor, has responded to Health Minister Bernard Okoe-Boye’s questioning of the source of funding for John Mahama’s campaign.

Mr. Okoe-Boye recently questioned the NDC flagbearer’s funding, suggesting that Mahama does not earn enough money monthly to finance his campaign.

He argued that there must be transparency in how various political parties secure funding for their campaign activities.

In response, the South Dayi lawmaker detailed how the former President’s 2024 campaign is being funded.

According to him, all regional secretariats of the NDC have successfully conducted fundraising exercises where money has been raised for campaign activities. He noted that this information is publicly available.

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the lawmaker wrote, “The campaign of our incorruptible & indefatigable FB, His Excellency JDM is fully funded by the [NDC] Party through its 16 Regional Executives who have held very successful Fund Raising Dinners in their respective regions. How much we got from these fund raising activities are a matter of public record. This is how we are funding His Excellency JDM’s Campaign rounds.”

He also dared Okoe-Boye to publicly disclose the source of funding for the campaign of the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“Would you be kind enough to tell us & other Ghanaians how Alhaji Dr. Bawumia is funding his campaign? Don’t tell me he is doing so from his salary as a Driver’s Mate,” he asked.
