NDC member arrested for allegedly threatening mayhem, if NPP refuses to hand over in 2025

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Emmanuel Azubila Salam has been arrested by the police for allegedly threatening mayhem against NPP executives post-2024 election.

Mr. Azubila Salam at a rally in the Kpong Katamanso constituency told supporters of the NDC to fight to protect themselves if they are victimized by the NPP supporters or the state security personnel in the 2024 election.

In a reaction to the Agric Minister, Byran Acheampong’s statement that “whether NDC likes it or not they will never win the 2024 polls. If you don’t win an election, will power be handed over to you? We will not hand it over to them today or tomorrow” Mr. Salam stated that the NDC members will not burn the sea but rather NPP executives.

He is heard in the alleged video saying there are two issues I want to emphasize, one is NPP member of the National Security Byran Acheampong who thinks they will not hand over power to NDC if they lose the 2024 election.

He remarked that during the Awayaso West Wagon by-election, the same Byran used the National security operatives to shoot members of the NDC and this time he said whether they lose or not they won’t hand over while the Inspector General of Police and the Ghana Arm Forces look on.

Azubila noted that this time round the NDC is law-abiding citizens and if the NPP won’t abide by the laws of Ghana, the NDC will not.

He was arrested by the Tema Regional Police Command on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, and charged with offensive conduct conducive to the breach of public peace. He will be arranged before the court on Thursday, August 29, 2024.
