NDC accuses EC of inflating voter register by over 3,000 in Ajumako Enyan Essiam

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has accused the Electoral Commission (EC) of unlawfully inflating the voter register in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency by more than 3,000 voters.

At a press conference on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, the party’s constituency Communication Officer, Andoh Alex Galad, revealed that the NDC had identified inconsistencies in the voters’ lists used during the recent exhibition exercise.

According to him, there was a discrepancy of 1,509 voters between the EC’s daily printouts (1,271) and the NDC’s own figures (2,780).

He further alleged that the register has been inflated with 3,017 additional voters, which he described as an attempt by the commission to skew the upcoming elections in favor of the ruling party.

Mr. Galad also explained that there was an “unexplained increase of 829 voters who were transferred out of the constituency but still appeared on the EC’s pre-exhibition list.”

The NDC has called for the immediate removal of excess voters from the electoral register and has requested an explanation from the Chairperson of the EC, Mrs. Jean Mensa.

Mr. Galad emphasized that, “The NDC remains committed to ensuring electoral integrity in Ghana.”
